CAMP PENDLETON (CNS) - Starting Wednesday, airborne Marines will conduct live-fire training at Camp Pendleton, base officials announced Monday.

The training will be done in the "Whiskey" impact area from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, according to Camp Pendleton's public affairs office. The office also said other aircraft will be dropping high explosives in the Zulu impact area from 10 a.m. until noon Thursday.

Both bombing areas are near the center of the base.

"Depending on atmospheric conditions, the sound of explosions may be amplified and heard up to 50 miles away," according to a base statement.
