Officials ID motorcyclist killed in Mission Valley

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A Northern California man died in a solo motorcycle crash on a Mission Valley freeway connector early Friday.

A passer-by found the 57-year-old rider lying on a guardrail near his downed 2001 Harley-Davidson Road King on the ramp from northbound state Route 163 to westbound Interstate 8 about 2:15 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Medics pronounced the Ravendale resident dead at the scene. His name was withheld pending notification of his family.

It was unclear exactly when the accident occurred, though it likely had been a short time before it was reported, since the area is well-traveled at most times of the day and night, CHP public-affairs Officer Jake Sanchez said.

There was no evidence that any other vehicles were involved. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, Sanchez said.
