San Diego Police out in force at triathlon

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Police also took extra security measures during Saturday's triathlon in Mission Bay.

Hundreds of runners took part in the Omegawave World Triathlon. While police would not reveal their security plan for the event, officials did say they took into account what happened in Boston this week. And in the end, there were no security issues.

"The day today has been beautiful. The racers are having a great time. No threats. There have been a few runners and bicyclists that have been injured. But other than that, a typical routine day for an event here in San Diego," said Lt. Marshall White with the San Diego Police Department.

San Diego police want to assure the public that they are always ready to handle any emergency.
