Crash leaves residents without power in El Cajon area

Posted: Updated:

EL CAJON (CNS) - Power is expected to be restored by 5:30 p.m. to 1,217 customers in portions of Granite Hills, Bostonia, East El Cajon and Singing Hills, said SDG&E media spokeswoman Samya France.

Residents were deprived of power at 12:18 p.m. when a solo vehicle northbound on Jamacha Road at Kendrick Way ran off the road and struck a power pole.

"A solo driver was coughing and drifted off the road and hit a power pole sheering it at the base and cutting off power to the neighborhood," El Cajon Police Lt. Steve Shakowski said.

Shakowski said the vehicle's occupant was not injured but the vehicle was extensively damaged. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
