SAN DIEGO (CNS) - An 18-year-old man was carjacked at knifepoint after shopping in the Rolando area, and San Diego police were on the lookout Monday for the man who drove off in the car and left it at a nearby apartment complex.

The victim was walking back to his 2002 Mercedes-Benz after shopping at the Marshalls store at 5831 University Ave. about 9:15 p.m. Sunday, San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros said.

As he got into the car, he was approached by a knife-wielding man who ordered him out, then drove off, Delimitros said. It was recovered later at a nearby apartment complex, according to the officer.

Police described the suspect as black, in his early 20s, tall and thin. He was wearing a white t-shirt and blue basketball shorts.
