Innocence Project members marching to Sacramento

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Members of the California Innocence Project are continuing their march from San Diego to Sacramento. On Tuesday, one of the men they helped free from prison reminded them of how important their work it.

Adam Riojas spent 13 years in prison for a murder he didn't commit. The Innocence Project helped secure his freedom.

Three of its members are now walking to Sacramento to personally appeal to Governor Jerry Brown to review the cases of 12 Californians they say are wrongly incarcerated.

"There are people who are innocent and there is one person who has the authority to just sign it up. It is important for people have been robbed of freedom," Riojas said.

The walkers started the march on Saturday, and will reach the capitol in June.
