Gyorko, Venable homer in Padres' win over Arizona

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Rookie Jedd Gyorko hit a two-run homer with two outs in the sixth and Will Venable followed with a solo shot to help carry Edinson Volquez and the San Diego Padres to a 5-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday.

Volquez won his third straight start and the Padres, who took two of three from the Diamondbacks, won for the eighth time in 11 games. The Diamondbacks have lost five of six.

Volquez (3-3) has rebounded from a rough opening stretch when he lost his first three starts and saw his ERA balloon to 11.68. He's 3-0 with a 2.49 ERA in his last four starts.
