Teen arrested for false report that prompted lockdown at Escondido High

ESCONDIDO (CBS 8) - A 17-year-old was under arrest Thursday for calling in a false report of an emergency that prompted the lockdown of Escondido High School.

There was no word if the unidentified male was a student at the school.

ESCONDIDO (CNS) - A report of gunfire near Escondido High School Thursday prompted an hourlong lockdown of the campus, while officers searched its rooms and grounds, finding no sign of a shooting or any other trouble.

A caller who would not give her name made an emergency call about 10 a.m. to report that shots had been fired at or near the school, according to police.

Students and staffers were kept in classrooms and offices, while officers fanned out across the campus. Authorities gave an all-clear shortly after 11 a.m., and the school returned to normal operations.

ESCONDIDO (CBS 8) – Reports of shots fired prompted the lockdown of Escondido High School Thursday morning.

The report was made around 10:15 a.m., after which Escondido police officers conducted a search of the campus located at 1535 N. Broadway. The school was locked down for an hour.

An ASTREA pilot reported that police were looking for a white male juvenile with long hair and a black hoodie. However, a suspect or evidence of shots fired was not found.

Authorities also said they followed up with the person who called in the report, but she would not reveal her identity.
