SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Thousands of people who think they're "kind of a big deal" tried out for "Anchorman: The Legend Continues" movie Saturday.

Auditions for the sequel were held at the DoubleTree Mission Valley hotel at Hazard Center. And News 8's Shannon Handy was there.

Saturday's casting call wasn't supposed to start until 11 a.m., but there were so many people they actually opened the doors around 7:30 a.m.

The line was wrapped around the block. And there was quite a selection of characters for the casting director to choose from.

From newcomers, to seasoned actors and everything in between.

"The first one was hilarious, so I thought...might as well give this one a shot."

Out of those who showed up, 300 will be chosen to shoot a scene for the upcoming sequel, scheduled to be taped at SeaWorld May 24th.

"The good thing is, if someone is not chosen, they'll be in our database for the next movie," said Judy Bouley from Central Casting.

Some who tried out came in costume.

"I don't know...this only happens once...might as well dress up for it."

Others were hoping their impressions from the first movie would do the trick.

"I don't know how to say this, but I'm kind a big deal."

While many practiced their lines, Saturday's audition consisted of filling out paperwork and taking a picture.

"It turned out to be a very efficient process."

Assuming you arrived early. If not, the unlucky ones ended up in the back of this massive line. Union members however, were given top priority.

So who will make the cut?

According to Central Casting, the director will choose based on a 70's inspired look.

But if you didn't show up in person, you can actually send in a picture online. Which is kind of ironic given Saturday's massive turnout.
