Cooking like the pros

Posted: Updated:

KEARNY MESA (CBS 8) - Over the past few years, cooking has become a competitive sport and it's not just the professional chefs, who are into it.

Larry Himmel takes us to a Kearny Mesa showroom, where any foodinista can find the right stuff.

To even the most fervent foodies, this gadget filled warehouse can be intimidating. At times, maybe even confusing.

But Chef City is actually a very friendly place. This is where San Diego's top chefs come to get their gear. A place where you can aspire to acquire the proper attire.

Chef City supplies most of the restaurants, cafes, hotels and schools in the county. Everything here is biggie-sized. Some of these kitchen utensils are multi-purposed.

Chef City's showroom on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard is open to the public daily, even if you're just a lookie-lou.

Here, your epicurean dreams can be sliced into edible reality or merely baked with culinary confusion. You'll surely find something here you'll want to take home.

It's all part of the Chef City experience.
