Super truck & monster truck racing returns

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - If you live for torque, horsepower, monster trucks and incredible tricks, you'll want to head to the Q Saturday.

SPEED Energy Stadium Super Trucks & Monster Truck Racing is returning to San Diego's Qualcomm Stadium on May 18th.

Thursday, the media was given the chance to drive the track and News 8's Jeff Zevely got behind the wheel to put the pedal to the metal. [Watch the above video for all the action.]

Event organizer and former NASCAR driver Robby Gordon told News 8, "The legendary Mickey Thompson style of stadium racing is back!"

Gates open Saturday, May 18 at 11 a.m. at Qualcomm Stadium. Spectators can meet the drivers and walk the track at 5:00 p.m. The racing starts at 7:00 p.m.
