EL CAJON (CBS 8) - The world's best guitar players play the world's finest guitars and a bunch of them are made in the East County.

Ask any well-respected guitar player where the music capitol of the world is located, they may say, El Cajon California at Taylor Guitars.

"We use machines to cut pieces of wood to super precision accuracies and then we hand assemble all of that and then we love it up," said Bob

The genesis of this acoustic empire that employees 600 people and stretches all the way to Africa had its humble beginnings in Lemon Grove, when Bob Taylor and his partner, Kurt Listug bought the American Dream Music Store. Today it's an American dream come true.

"Three guitars a week, then and ah, 600 guitars a day now," said Taylor.

Taylor Guitars are not only known for their beauty and craftsmanship, but are also legendary, because they are easy to play.

Taylor Guitars offers free tours, so you can see how wood and wires become playable pieces of art. And the next time you're cruising through the East County listening to Lil Wayne, Rascal Flatts or Taylor Swift, know that they all have string attached to El Cajon.
