Bomb squad removes device from beach

Posted: Updated:

CARDIFF (CBS 8) - A Cardiff beach had to be evacuated Sunday while the bomb squad inspected a suspicious-looking device that washed up on shore.

It happened near the 2000 block of South Coast Highway. The bomb squad was called out to check out the three-foot long object and take it away.

Investigators say they believe it was a disposal canister used to house spent ordinance or flares.
