SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A Memorial Day service at Mount Soledad Monday honored two former Navy SEALs killed in the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.

The Mount Soledad Veterans Association donated plaques for Encinitas resident Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods of Imperial Beach.

The two were working as contractors when they were killed during the attack on September 11 of last year.

"I can guarantee with my life that their selfless and heroic ethos prompted them to ask the question 'Brother, how are we going to make a difference tonight?' American lives were saved, their lives were lost," Tyrone Woods' wife Dorothy Narvaez-Woods said.

Monday's ceremony also included a 21-gun salute and a performance by the Navy Band Southwest Brass Quintet.
