Sea lion draws crowd on the sand in Pacific Beach

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A wayward sea lion drew a crowd in Pacific Beach when it scooted across the sand to the boardwalk.

The young sea lion was spotted just after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on the sand near Pacific Beach Drive.

Lifeguards monitored the animal while they waited for rescue crews from SeaWorld to arrive.

The sea lion was moving around a lot and appeared to have a tag from a previous capture.

"He seems to be really pretty healthy and seems to be in good shape, he's just taking a break from the ocean, I guess," said Scott Shore, who spotted the sea lion.

So far this year, SeaWorld has rescued more than 330 sea lion pups – that compared to 135 for all of last year.
