SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The lead singer of a San Diego-based Christian heavy metal band accused in a murder-for-hire plot is out of jail.

Timothy Lambesis apparently posted bail and was released from the Vista jail.

His bail was lowered last week from $3 million to $2 million.

The attorney for the As I Lay Dying frontman says his client was mentally unstable due to steroid use when he tried to hire an undercover detective to kill his wife.

He has pleaded not guilty.
