700-mile run raising money to support children with cancer

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Richard Nares lost his five-year-old son Emilio to leukemia in 2000. On Saturday, he will finish his 700-mile run from San Francisco to San Diego.

He is running to raise money for the Emilio Nares Foundation, which provides support for families and children with cancer.

We caught up with Richard in Cardiff to talk more about what the foundation does.

"Our biggest program, our most visible program is called Ride with Emilio. And we pick up the child and the mom and we deliver them to the hospital and back again. It's a unique program that helps low income families that do not have transportation," he said.
