Diesel fuel spill in Mission Bay

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Crews cleaned up a diesel fuel spill in Mission Bay overnight.

The spill was reported just before 7:30 p.m. Friday in Perez Cove, just west of SeaWorld.

Authorities aren't sure how many gallons of fuel leaked, but say the spill covered more than 62,000 square feet.

A malfunctioning pump on a boat reportedly caused the spill.

The clean up is being handled by SeaWorld Environmental Services.
