Fitting for Father's Day: A fitting and driver

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Are you looking for a last-minute Father's Day gift? Here's an idea to pamper your golfer dad with something brand new on the market.

The best part of this Father's Day gift idea is dad has to get dressed up like a clown, which sets up your teenager for a nice Vine video.

Twenty-eight body sensors and seven high-speed cameras allow full breakdown of a golfer's swing.

"We'll be able to look at your golf swing in three-dimensional from wherever we want to -- underneath, on top, what have you," TaylorMade Master Fitting Professional Jake Wiese said.

Of course dad will be tempted to compare himself to a PGA touring pro, but Wiese will steer dad in the right direction for a custom fit.

"I try not to put anyone into a general area, if this is how old you are this is how fast you should swing. If you have a bad hip or a bad knee you can only swing so fast, that's what we'll put you into. Where the shaft and combination of the golf club is going to optimize it better for you," Wiese said.

The fitting continues outside.

"This right here is the adjustable face plate. What this will do is open or close the face depending what kind of loft we put you in as well," Jake explained.

The black R1 driver hit store shelves this week. Once fitted, I found it far more forgiving compared to the driver that's currently in my bag. Jake says that's typical.

"Whatever you used to do, this does half that. If you sliced it 40 yards, this will only slice 20 yards," he said.

And what's nice about that is you won't look like a clown when you're on the tee box with your buddies.

Some of the footage in this video was shot using a GoPro camera.
