SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Sheriff's deputies arrested 27 people with outstanding warrants stemming from drunken driving or domestic violence offenses during a sweep in North County and South Bay cities Saturday, a sheriff's sergeant said.
Starting at 6 a.m., deputies fanned out across Vista, San Marcos, Oceanside, Encinitas, National City, Chula Vista and Imperial Beach in search of those with outstanding misdemeanor or felony warrants, sheriff's Sgt. Bill Munsch said.
Deputies arrested 27 people, including a woman who was also suspected of felony methamphetamine possession, according to Munsch.
The operation was funded by assessment fees collected from those who have violated a written promise to appear in court or otherwise failed to comply with the condition of their court orders, Munsch said.
Munsch said the sheriff's department was to continue efforts to apprehend wanted persons. Those with outstanding misdemeanor or felony warrants should to turn themselves in to a court facility during business hours, Munsch advised.
