DEL MAR (CNS) - A Vista couple who bonded over a shared love for Puerto Rican pork shoulder is scheduled to tie the knot Sunday at the San Diego County Fair, amid a day of bacon-themed events.
Adrienne Dunvan and Eddie Quinones, who have four foster and adopted children, were the winners of a contest to get married during the "Big Bite Bacon Fest" at the fair.
The bacon-themed wedding is scheduled to take place at the Del Mar Arena, as will the day's other bacon-related activities, according to fair officials. Star 94.1 DJ Jesse Lozano will preside over the nuptials.
Instead of throwing rice, onlookers and the bacon-clad wedding party will shower the newlyweds with bacon bits as they take their first steps as husband and wife, according to fair officials.
The Donut Bar will provide the groom's cake -- an oversized maple donut sprinkled with bacon.
Dunvan and Quinones will also be treated to a five-night honeymoon in a southeast Baltimore neighborhood known as the Pigtown Historic District. They'll also attend at the 12th Annual Pigtown Festival.
The Big Bite Bacon Fest will also feature tastings of bacon-infused dishes, craft beers from local breweries, live entertainment and a Big Daddy Bacon Pageant, according to fair officials. Amateur and professional chefs will also compete for prizes and advancement to the World Food Championship.
A general admission ticket for either the lunch or dinner session costs $55 and includes food and beer tastings. A discount ticket that does not include beer tastings is available for $40. Both include fair admission, according to officials.
