SAN DIEGO (AP) — Chris Denorfia and Chase Headley each had two RBIs as the Padres roughed up Clayton Kershaw and four relievers shut down the Dodgers after Clayton Richard left two pitches into his start with shoulder pain, leading San Diego to a 5-2 victory over Los Angeles on Friday night.

Tim Stauffer (1-0) gave up one run in four innings for his first win since Sept. 16, 2011, and closer Huston Street secured his 15th save in 16 chances.

The surging Padres are an NL-best 13-7 in June. San Diego has won eight straight at Petco Park and nine of their last 11 overall. The Dodgers have lost nine of 12.

Richard was removed because of pain in his left arcomioclavicular joint, located at the top of the shoulder, near the collarbone. The left-hander walked toward the dugout after the second pitch he threw.

The Padres said Richard would be evaluated further before providing a precise diagnosis.

Kershaw (5-5) allowed four runs on seven hits in six innings. He allowed four earned runs in a game this season just once prior to Friday. The Dodgers ace has struggled against San Diego this season, going 0-3 with a 4.67 ERA in three starts.

Stauffer pitched well in long relief of Richard before giving way to Tyson Ross in the fifth. Ross pitched three shutout innings before giving way to Dale Thayer and Street.

Denorfia homered off Kershaw in the first inning to tie it 1-all, then the Padres added three more int he third.

Logan Forsythe doubled and Denorfia walked before Chase Headley triple them in. Kyle Blanks drove him home in the next at-bat for a 4-1 lead.

The Dodgers rallied for a run off Dale Thayer. Hanley Ramirez's RBI double made it 5-2.

Dodgers rookie phenom Yasiel Puig went 2 for 4 against the Padres, which raised his average to .455 and marked his 11th multihit game in 17 major league games.
