San Diego County average gasoline price keeps rising

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County rose Sunday for the 11th consecutive day and 14th time in 15 days, but the increase of four-tenths of a cent to $4.116 was the smallest since Monday.

The average price had risen at least 1.9 cents each of the past three days, including 5.1 cents on Friday -- the largest daily increase since Feb. 2 -- and 2.7 cents on Saturday.

The average price is 11.6 cents more than one week ago, 7.1 cents higher than one month ago and 27.2 cents greater than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price has increased 15.9 cents during the past 15 days.

The rising prices stem from increased wholesale gasoline prices caused by shutdowns of refineries for maintenance, which reduce the supply, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
