POWAY (CBS 8) - She was killed when a fire truck crashed into the car she was riding in. A celebration of life was held in honor of 19-year-old Evelyn Courtney in Poway.

On Thursday morning, the aspiring model was a passenger in a Honda Accord when a Poway fire engine with its lights on crashed into the car along Midland Road.

She died at the scene.

Evelyn's parents say their daughter had a big heart and wanted to help people in need.

"Wanted to help all the teenagers that were depressed and that had problems. We always talked about having a non-profit organization that... So she can help all the teenagers... Not trying to kill themselves. Cope with life," said her mother Teresa Courtney.

The driver of the car, 44-year-old Robbie Gillespie, remains hospitalized.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
