SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The parking lots at local beaches are full. They filled up before noon Thursday, as many people began arriving before the sun was out to stake their claim.

Several events are scheduled throughout San Diego County to celebrate the 4th of July, including The Big Bay Boom fireworks celebration, which is expected to attract up to 500,000 people.

The best viewing spots will be Harbor Island, the North Embarcadero, Seaport Village, Shelter Island and the Coronado Ferry Landing, according to the Port of San Diego. Spectators will also be allowed to bring chairs to view the show on Broadway Pier and the B Street Cruise Ship Terminal.

Port officials said drivers should be aware of construction along North Harbor Drive. Also, police will cut off access to Harbor and Shelter islands when parking is full, which usually happens at around 3 p.m.

Free shuttle services will be provided starting around 6:00 p.m. from designated parking lots that open at 5:30 p.m. Return shuttles will leave shortly after the fireworks show ends, with the last trip at 11 p.m.

The pickup and drop-off locations will be adjacent to West Marine, at the corner of Rosecrans and Carleton streets, for those going to Shelter Island, and the Port Administration Building, 3165 Pacific Highway, for those who want to go to Harbor Island.

Port officials asked for patience after the show, since wait times for return trips on the shuttles might be significant.

- 9 p.m., Del Mar, Del Mar Fairgrounds, 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd.

- 9 p.m., El Cajon, Kennedy Park, 1675 E. Madison Ave.

- 9 p.m., Escondido, Grape Day Park, 321 N. Broadway

- 9 p.m., Mira Mesa, Mira Mesa High School, 10510 Reagan Road

- 9 p.m., Poway, Poway High School, stadium, 15500 Espola Road

- 9 p.m., Rancho Bernardo, Webb Park, off Bernardo Center Drive

- 9 p.m., Santee, Town Center Community Park, 550 Park Center Drive

- 9 p.m., Vista, Brengle Terrace Park, 1200 Vale Terrace Drive

- 9:30 p.m., San Diego, SeaWorld San Diego, 500 SeaWorld Drive
