Motorcyclist killed in crash near I-5 in Chula Vista identified

CHULA VISTA (CNS) - Authorities Saturday released the name of the 43-year-old Imperial Beach man killed in a motorcycle crash on a South Bay freeway exit ramp.

The body of Darnell Adams and his heavily damaged motorcycle were found along the southbound Interstate 5 off-ramp to E Street about 6:15 a.m. Friday, although it was unknown when the crash occurred, according to the California Highway Patrol and the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.

The rider, unable to negotiate the turn on the off-ramp while traveling at an unknown speed on the 2008 Honda CBR1000, crashed and was thrown from the vehicle, according to CHP Officer Tommy Doerr.

Adams died at the scene, authorities said.

CHULA VISTA (CNS) - A motorcyclist was killed Friday in a South Bay freeway crash, authorities said.

The crash on southbound Interstate 5 at E Street was reported at 6:14 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

One lane of the E Street off-ramp was closed due to the accident, and a SigAlert was issued. 

No word on what caused the crash. The ramp was reopened and the SigAlert lifted shortly after 9 a.m.
