Teen arrested after shooting at police with BB gun

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) – A teenage boy is in custody, after allegedly shooting at officers with a high powered pellet gun.

Authorities were investigating reports overnight that someone was shooting at cars near the intersection of 43rd and Myrtle Avenue in City Heights. Then while interviewing a victim, more shots rang out.

The officers were not hit. They later arrested the 16-year-old teen after noticing stray BBs around an apartment.

Police say the situation is made more alarming, because the weapon has the appearance of a real gun.

The teen now faces several charges, including assault with a deadly weapon.

His parents were not home at the time of the incident.
