SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The San Diego Padres will conduct U.S. Army Appreciation Day at Sunday's game against the San Francisco Giants at Petco Park, part of the team's full season of Sunday military salutes.
A pregame ceremony in honor of the U.S. Army will recognize soldiers from Fort Irwin in San Bernardino County. Dozens of future soldiers will take the oath of enlistment during the pregame ceremony.
Sgt. Jason Elliot from the La Mesa Army Recruiting Company will perform the national anthem.
Sunday's game will also mark the debut of KidsFest at Park, which will feature bounce houses and other inflatables, games, face painters, balloon artists and other kid-friendly activities.
White Sox reliever Danny Farquhar was in stable but critical condition Saturday, a day after suffering a brain hemorrhage while in the dugout during a game.
Tyson Ross lost his bid to pitch the first no-hitter in San Diego Padres' history when center fielder Franchy Cordero appeared to misplay a ball with two outs in the eighth inning Friday night of a 4-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
