KEARNY MESA (CNS) - A motorcycle crashed into a sedan in a Kearny Mesa intersection, leaving the rider with a broken leg and his passenger with minor injuries, a police officer said Sunday.

Police said the crash happened when a 28-year-old man driving a Nissan sedan pulled out in front of the motorcycle at the intersection of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard and Shawline Street about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, San Diego police Officer David Stafford said.

The 59-year-old motorcyclist sustained an open fracture to his leg and his 50-year-old female passenger passenger had minor knee injuries, Stafford said. They were both taken to a hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The sedan's driver was not injured and Stafford said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
