"Operation iGuardian" targets online child predators

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Three men from the San Diego area are among 255 suspected child predators arrested in a nationwide investigation called "Operation iGuardian."

Anthony Gonzalez, 23, Jeremy Smith, 22 and an unnamed 17-year-old were arrested in the five-week long investigation.

Officials say some of the suspects nationwide are facing rape and molestation charges, but the locals are accused only of trading online child pornography.

"These individuals could be trading images with each other, with persons in the U.S., in foreign countries around the world," Homeland Security Investigations spokesman Mike Carney said.

"Operation iGuardian" also identified 61 victims of online sexual exploitation.
