Mike Dee named new Padres president and CEO

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The Padres have named a new president and CEO for the team. Mike Dee will fill the positions, according to Lead Investor, Peter Seidler, and Executive Chairman, Ron Fowler.

Dee returns to San Diego after spending eight successful seasons with the Padres from 1995-2002, joining the club as director of corporate development before several promotions that lead to his appointment as Senior Vice President of Business Affairs in 2001. While with the Padres, the club won two division titles, a National League pennant and successfully passed proposition C that led to the construction of Petco Park.

Dee most recently served as the CEO of the Miami Dolphins and Sun Life Stadium since May 3, 2009. While with the Dolphins, he developed initiatives to grow the fan base and game-day experience, finalized a ground-breaking naming rights deal while enhancing relationships with the club's business partners and re-focused team resources to create a greater emphasis on community relations efforts.

Last week, the team announced the resignation of Tom Garfinkel as President and CEO of the Padres.
