Crews battle 2 separate structure fires

Abandoned structures in Lakeside and San Diego's Allied Gardens neighborhood caught fire early Monday about an hour apart, authorities said.

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Abandoned structures in Lakeside and San Diego's Allied Gardens neighborhood caught fire early Monday about an hour apart, authorities said.

The first fire in the area of Lemon Crest and Single Oak drives in Lakeside was reported just after 1 a.m., according to a Heartland fire dispatcher. Crews had most of the blaze out a little more than an hour later, she said.

At 1:53 a.m., a structure fire was reported in the area of Greenbrier Avenue and Mission Gorge Road in the Allied Gardens area, according to a San Diego fire-rescue dispatcher. It was knocked down within about 40 minutes, he said.

No one was hurt in either blaze. The cause of the fires was under investigation.
