Husband wanted after wife found murdered in Escondido home

Posted: Updated:

ESCONDIDO (CNS) - A manhunt is underway Thursday for a 46-year-old man suspected of killing his wife in the couple's Escondido home.

Jesus "Tony" Flores Hernandez is suspected of killing 43-year-old Juana Montalvo in the 1500 block of East El Norte Parkway sometime before 11 a.m. Wednesday, according to Escondido police.

The couple's son made an emergency call about 11 a.m. to report that he was unable to awaken his mother, Escondido police Lt. Neal Griffin said.

Responding officers found Montalvo dead in a bedroom. Detectives gathered evidence at the scene and determined she had been slain, according to Griffin. The cause of death was withheld.

Police did not say what led investigators to identify the victim's husband as a suspect.

Hernandez was described as Latino, roughly 5 feet 6, 150 pounds, with collar-length black hair, driving a tan four-door 2004 GMC Canyon pickup truck, California license No. 7D60443.

Authorities asked that anyone who spots the suspect or knows his whereabouts call 911.
