Tons of debris being pulled out of San Diego Bay

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The southern portion of San Diego Bay is a lot cleaner now, thanks to the efforts of the Port of San Diego.

Some 50 tons of debris will eventually be pulled to the surface within a 350-acre areas of the bay. Boats, tires, batteries and other debris have been taken out of the water.

The cleanup was made possible through grants from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the state Water Resources Control Board.
