SAN DIEGO (AP) - Chris Davis hit his major league-best 41st homer in Baltimore's four-run eighth inning, helping the Orioles beat the San Diego Padres 8-3 on Wednesday.

Davis belted a tiebreaking three-run shot into the bleachers in right-center on the first pitch from Colt Hynes. Brian Roberts tacked on a sacrifice fly, and the Orioles then broke it open with three more runs in the ninth.

Luke Gregerson (5-6) allowed singles to Manny Machado and Adam Jones before Davis went deep to leave him with a majors-best 106 RBIs.

Jedd Gyorko hit a tying three-run homer in the sixth for San Diego. Alexi Amarista had two hits.

Francisco Rodriguez (1-0) got the victory pitching a scoreless seventh inning.

The un-Armstrong? Tour 'boss' Nibali wins Stage 18

Vincenzo Nibali has won the 18th stage of the Tour de France, emphatically stamping his dominance on the race in its last mountain leg with a solo breakaway on the day's last climb.
As his team hoped, Vincenzo Nibali demonstrated he's the "boss" of the Tour de France. Just don't compare him to the last rider to regularly bear that sobriquet at cycling's greatest race, Lance Armstrong.
