Filner banned from San Diego Hooters restaurants

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Bob Filner can scratch Hooters off his list for dinner.

The owner of the four San Diego-area Hooters restaurants, announced Tuesday it will not serve Mayor Filner, who is fighting sexual harassment allegations.

Signs announcing the decision were posted at all four locations owned by Hootwinc, which operates Hooters eateries on the West Coast.

"This establishment recognizes that we all have political differences and we serve people from all walks of life," according to a sign posted in the window of the downtown location on Market Street. "We also believe it is imperative for people to have standards. The mayor of San Diego will not be served in this establishment. We believe women should be treated with respect."

Melissa Fry, the marketing director for Hootwinc, said the edict also affects locations in Mission Valley, Oceanside and Rancho Bernardo.

Mike Slater on CBS 8's sister station AM 760 KFMB is helping to promote the campaign, urging listeners and San Diego business owners to post a sign banning Filner from their establishments. He has the following sign available for download on the AM 760 KFMB site:
