Intersection reopened after investigation of deadly accident

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - One man is dead, another is behind bars after an early-morning crash in Serra Mesa. Police believe one driver ran a light and another was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

A silver Toyota pick-up was driving southbound on Linda Vista Road and a white Mazda sedan was traveling westbound on Tait Street around 12:30 a.m. Thursday.

Authorities say it's unclear at this time who failed to stop at the intersection, but apparently the Mazda was hit by the Toyota. The 28-year-old driver of the Mazda died at the scene, but his 28-year-old passenger was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

It appears alcohol was a factor in this crash. The driver of the Toyota pick-up truck was arrested.

The intersection Tait Street and Linda Vista Road was closed for a period of time Thursday morning, but has since reopened.
