SAN PASQUAL (CNS) - A big rig hauling scrap metal overturned on State Route 78 near Ramona early Friday, forcing an eight-hour closure of the rural route.

The non-injury crash near San Pasqual Battlefield State Historic Park was reported shortly before 4:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Authorities shut down a stretch of the roadway just west of Guejito Truck Trail to allow for cleanup. The route was fully reopened as of 12:40 p.m., CHP public affairs Officer Robert Catano said.

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A tractor-trailer took out several feet of guardrail and overturned along Highway 78 early Friday, forcing a major road closure in the San Pasqual Valley area just in time for the morning commute.

The crash between the San Pasqual Academy and Guejito Road was reported at 4:20 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Highway 78 from the San Pasqual Academy to Guejito Road -- a major commuter corridor out of Ramona -- was closed for cleanup, the CHP reported.
