The recall effort to oust Mayor Bob Filner kicks off Sunday, August 18. So far, more than 800 San Diegans have signed up so serve as volunteers to collect signatures or assist in other parts of the volunteer effort.

For volunteers who want to pick up petitions or play a leadership role within their neighborhoods, area directors will be at this event to meet and assist volunteer signature gatherers and neighborhood organizers.

City Hall
Sunday, August 18
2 p.m.

March organized by bipartisan businesswomen and women veterans. Gloria Allred will attend. Recall Bob Filner volunteers will be there in force, with petitions.

The recall effort must collect 101,597 signatures, from registered San Diego voters, by September 26. If the full number of required signatures are turned into the City Clerk within that 39-day period, a signature-verification process of up to 30 days commences.

Once the clerk has verified that the petition has the full 101,597 valid signatures, the City Clerk must present the petition to the City Council at the earliest opportunity. The City Council must schedule an election within 60 to 90 days of the official presentation.
