SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Police searched Thursday for two men who robbed two other men at a popular late-night hang out near San Diego State University.

The suspects stole the victims' cell phones.

The robbery occurred in the patio area of Senor Poncho's Mexican Grill at 5100 College Ave. shortly before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to SDSU police.

The victims chased after the robbers and one victim was able to get his cell phone back, police said in a statement, adding that the other victim was struck in the head by one of the robbers while trying to retrieve his phone. No injuries were reported.

Both victims are SDSU students, police said.

Police described the robbers are college-age black men. One had a shaved head and the other was wearing a white T-shirt and had dreadlocks, police said.

University police turned the case over to city of San Diego police. Anyone with information about the robbery was asked to call them at (619) 531-2000.
