This action-packed weekend – which is open to the pubic – will provide a full range of challenging games, demonstrations and fun activities for every member of the family. The weekend is designed to promote the many challenging experiences that Scouting provides.
"First and foremost, this event will serve as a grand re-introduction of Scouting to the public, and to do that, we have scheduled full lineup of activities for all attendees that demonstrate the fun, as well as the lifelong educational experiences that Scouting provides," said Denver Laabs, program director for the Boy Scouts of America
These activities include: "Pumpkin Chunkin'," a chance to learn the art of blacksmithing, or try your hand at shooting a BB gun or pellet rifle, in addition to completing an Olympic style action course. Participants can take an off road Jeep ride, kayak a slalom course, and test your skills at the world's longest pinewood derby race! In addition, Scouts and adults will have the chance to participate in a 5K FUN, RUN & WALK.
"I grew up with Scouting as an important part of my youth and many of the lessons I learned there remain relevant today," said 2013 Rendezvous event chairman, Bill Kozyra – who is Chairman, CEO and President of TI Automotive. "This event will show that Scouting is truly something that can be an asset to you throughout your life."
The entertainment will last far into the night, as the 2013 Rendezvous will also feature an arena show on Saturday night hosted by FOX-2 Anchor, Huel Perkins.
