POWAY (CBS 8) - A local mom says she was discriminated against by Poway Unified for breastfeeding her baby.
A protest was held Wednesday morning at the Poway Unified School District office to dispute its policy of not allowing nursing mothers to breastfeed on school grounds.
The "nurse-in" was inspired by an incident with a Poway school mom who says she was reprimanded for nursing her one-year-old during a private parent-teacher conference.
Organizers say that nursing moms have a right to breast feed in public. They're just looking for the district to comply and to put it in writing.
