SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The Chargers pulled off a big win Sunday, beating the Cowboys 30 to 21 and cheering them on were all kinds of Bolts fans, including the NFL's fastest growing fan base - women.
According to the NFL, women's apparel spending went up 76 percent over the past three years, leading to more options from purses to hats for the female fan.
"Those of us have been football fans forever, they're at least catching up with us," said one fan.
As this gender specific apparel continues to grow in popularity, the Chargers are now adding family-friendly to its list of innovative changes. Another example of one of those changes is the family parking lot, where alcohol is prohibited.
These are all good changes say the women News 8 spoke with - except for one.
"This is not what's normally in my purse. I'll put it that way," noted one fan.
She's talking about those clear purses. The ones fans at all NFL stadiums must now use to bring items inside.
A bag that some say is as attractive as it is useful and not sensitive enough for the female fan.
"I guess if you have half a child that would work great, but if you have multiple kids, what are you supposed to do," asked one female fan.
