Our mission is to raise awareness about Alzheimer's disease.
Our mission is to raise awareness about Alzheimer's disease; inform our community about programs and resources provided to San Diego families by the Alzheimer's Association; to help them cope with the emotional, physical and financial toll of Alzheimer's disease.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Hundreds of people walked to end Alzheimer's in Balboa Park Saturday.

About 60,000 San Diegans suffer from the disease and it is the third leading cause of death in San Diego.

There is currently no treatment or cure for the disease, so events like Saturday's walk are important to help advance the field.

"I think it's movements like this that help money and funding for research necessary in this field. It's a great chance to get together with your community and do a good thing for a horrible disease," said participant Bill Hughes.

Proceeds from Saturday's event go to the Alzheimer's Association.
