OCEAN BEACH (CNS) - A high-speed chase of a suspected stolen vehicle that began Sunday in Valley Center and wound its way south ended about an hour later on Sunset Cliffs Boulevard in Ocean Beach with CHP officers taking a suspect into custody.

The incident began at about 4:05 p.m. in Valley Center at Old Castle Road and Alta Mira Lane, Sheriff's Lt. Jason Vickery said.

"Valley Center deputies attempted to stop a Honda Civic and the suspect failed to pull over and deputies pursued," Vickery said. "The pursuit went to Interstate 15 and Deer Springs Road, where the CHP took over the pursuit with the assistance of a sheriff's canine unit. Speeds during the pursuit reached more than 95 miles per hour on southbound 15."

The pursuit of the suspect vehicle eventually ended on Sunset Cliffs Boulevard when a "hot stop," officers running into the back of the car forcing it to yield, was successfully employed and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

No one was injured. The suspect was not identified.
