SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Battle lines are being drawn over the assumed borders of Mira Mesa.
Sorrento Valley residents are upset over new signs that are now welcoming drivers as they enter the area near the 805 freeway.
But the problem is Sorrento Valley residents say that's their neighborhood.
"We thought we'd put up some signs that people know where they were because there is confusion, and look it's a wonderful place to be - it's Mira Mesa - we're the largest most diverse community in the San Diego... How is that a bad thing?" Christiane Hoffman said.
Residents say their property values are twice as much as Mira Mesa. They're concerned about being associated with gangs and crime.
Councilmember Lorie Zapf, who represents the district, has reportedly ordered the signs to be removed from Sorrento Valley.
