BORREGO SPRINGS (CBS 8) - After shutting down for three years, a popular local resort has reopened its doors.

Out of the muted brown tones of the Anza Borrego Desert a local jewel is being buffed to its former brilliance.

"For approximately three years, closed down, overgrown and the tragedy. My employees were no longer here," said general manager, Patrick Sampson.

But La Casa Del Zorro has reopened its familiar doors.

"We have intentionally brought the soul back and primarily through bringing back some of my staff members, who were here for up to 26 years," continued Sampson.

Much has been done to recapture the former La Casa Del Zorro experience. From the main Butterfield Dining Room to the poolside veranda. The grounds have familiar inviting vibe.

"We have 67 total rooms, which includes 19 casitas. They range from one to four bedrooms," noted Sampson.

The casitas offer the ultimate in seclusion with their own swimming pool. Some located a half a mile from the main building for total privacy.

"We do have 26 swimming pools on property and we situated on 42 acres," explained Sampson.

If you want to be a high roller in Borrego, you can even rent the entire former Copley Mansion by the night.

"San Diegans are our best friends. They remember La Casa. They all had experiences here that make this location special to them and we're glad to be back," Sampson added.

La Casa Del Zorro again offers paradise found and a great place to get lost.
