Tis the season: Stuff the Bus Food Drive

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - This is the season when families have the biggest need. So several local organizations are partnering to help ensure no one in San Diego County goes hungry.

The goal of stuff the bus is to fill 19 buses with non-perishable food items.

The drive has been going on since Monday at all Albertsons locations. "The Stuff the Bus" food drive is in its 6th year and will wrap up Saturday, October 26 at 2:00 p.m.

Until then, you can donate food at any and all

of the Albertsons locations in the county.

The event is hosted by the Metropolitan Transit System (MTS), the North County Transit District (NCTD), Albertsons, the Armed Services YMCA, the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank and the Girl Scouts.

When the food drive ends, the 19 buses will caravan to the Food Bank where military volunteers from the Armed Services YMCA will off load each bus.

The food bank feeds an incredible amount of local families. On average it feeds 320,000 people every month. So the need here is great. Again, the busses will be stuffed this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 19 locations throughout the county.
