Armed man follows girls on their way to school

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Students and parents from El Capitan High School are being warned about a man armed with a knife, who followed a group of girls on their way to school.

The girls say it happened Tuesday morning as they walked to their bus stop.

The school sent a letter to parents, noting that the girls noticed the man following them, so they ran to a nearby mobile home park.

A male student saw what happened and approached the man. The pulled a knife on the student, who quickly ran away.

The suspect is described as a black male around six feet tall with dreadlocks and walks with a limp.

In the meantime, students are told to be careful especially if they're out at night, taking precautions such as walking with another person and being aware of the surrounding area.
