A man working at a nearby business called 911 after he heard gunfire and went outside to find the woman's body, SDPD homicide Lt. Jorge Duran said.

The woman, who appeared to be in her 30s, died from single gunshot wound, Duran said, noting her identity was unknown.

Detectives were following up on leads from witnesses, who saw a male wearing a blue sweatshirt leaving the area north on 31st Street, according to the lieutenant.
